Police body camera footage shows officers walking as Tire Nichols collapsed to the ground.

Authorities in the city of Memphis (Tennessee, USA) released this Friday several recordings showing the arrest of 

Tire Nichols, a 29-year-old African-American man who died three days after several officers beat him during a traffic jam. last January 7th.

The five former police officers who were involved in the youth's arrest have been charged with 

second degree murder

.

Currently, Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr. and Justin Smith, all of whom are African American, are in custody and are also facing charges including 

aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct and official oppression

.

In one of the videos, Nichols is on the ground and is struck multiple times in the head by the officers standing over him. 

In some of the chaotic footage, officers can be seen kicking Nichols as he lies on the asphalt.

The man was also held down and brutally beaten, always on the head, while he was still standing.

The officers pepper-sprayed and used tasers on him during his arrest.

Video taken from a remote-controlled camera attached to a utility pole shows Tire Nichols being punched by Memphis police officers at least nine times without visible provocation.

When the camera first turns to the police scene, it captures an officer forcefully shoving Nichols onto the pavement with a knee or leg.

Nichols is lifted up by the shoulders and then kicked twice to the face.

After he is lifted back up and sat down, Nichols is struck in the back with what appears to be a truncheon.

After bringing him to his knees, Nichols is hit again.

Once on his feet, video shows officers punch Nichols in the face multiple times while pinning his hands behind his body, after which he falls to his knees.

Less than a minute later, an officer appears to kick Nichols.

More than three minutes after the encounter is first caught on camera, the officers release Nichols, who rolls onto his back.

A minute later, Nichols is dragged across the sidewalk and lifted into a sitting position against the side of a car, where he is virtually ignored by officers for the next three and a half minutes.

Ten minutes into the video, an individual who appears to be a paramedic finally approaches Nichols.
