Military expert Roman Svitan believes that Vugledar is an important bridgehead for the further advance of Ukrainian troops during the breakthrough to the Azov coast in the Mariupol region.

That is why the Russian occupiers also targeted this direction.

He reported this in a comment on "24 Channel".

According to him, a counteroffensive can be launched from Vugledar in the direction of Volnovakha, if the task is to reach Mariupol.

"This is the best option for advancing along the road from Donetsk to Mariupol. From Ugledar, you can go towards Volnovakha, cut the railway connection and continue for about 100 kilometers to Mariupol," he modeled.

In addition, in his opinion, from here it is possible to plan a counterattack on Novoazovsk - through Olenivka and Telmanov.

"This is a very good and already ready bridgehead for this task," noted Roman Svitan.

In addition, there are two settlements behind Vugledar that cover the rear of the Armed Forces and are an important logistics hub.

Realizing the importance of this point, the Russian invaders concentrated their attacks in this direction.

It will be recalled that the Russian army is unable to achieve success near Vugledar in the Donetsk region.

The occupiers suffer heavy losses.
