Some Western politicians and leaders see a difference between Russia's annexation of Crimea and the occupied territories of Ukraine.

Kremlin propaganda created a myth that Crimea is something special, even compared to the occupied Donbas.

In an interview with TSN.ua, the head of the "Regional security and conflict research" direction of the Ilko Kucheriv Foundation for Democratic Initiatives and Maria Zolkina, a researcher at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, told about this.

"In order to dispel the myth,

Ukraine needs to be resourceful

. Diplomatically, this means that Ukraine does not need to say in an open information campaign conducted by officials that Ukraine will liberate all its occupied territories. That is, to insist that

there is no principled differences between Crimea and other occupied territories.

This line has disappeared for the political leadership and, most importantly, for Ukrainian society. About 7% of us are ready to sacrifice some part of the Ukrainian territory for the sake of an imaginary peace with Russia, according to the results of a December opinion poll," she said .

Zolkina emphasized that Ukrainian diplomacy needs to clearly convey to Western partners that the Defense Forces are ready to liberate Crimea.

"At the same time, behind closed doors, Ukrainian diplomacy must clearly convey to our partners that we are determined to de-occupy Crimea. In order not to provoke hysteria on the part of Russia. Putin needs much more than the status of Crimea. And this is a very good argument for Kyiv. Perhaps not so much actively in the open information space than with our Western partners. Tell them the plan is to liberate the entire territory," she said.

Liberation of Crimea: forecast

The leader of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov, believes that the

liberation of Crimea will take place thanks to powerful and long-range missile and artillery weapons.

Meanwhile, military expert Roman Svitan noted that during the liberation,

Crimea will become a continuous front zone.

The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov believes that the

return of Crimea will take place by military means in 2023.
