Australian Open 2023 Final:

 India's star player Sania Mirza, along with her partner compatriot Rohan Bopanna, concluded her Grand Slam career by being runner-up in the mixed doubles of the Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne on Friday.

Sania has won six Grand Slam titles in her career (Sania Mirza Career), which includes three women's doubles and as many mixed doubles titles.

Sania got emotional after the match and could hardly hold back her tears.

She said, “If I cry, it will be tears of happiness.

I have two more tournaments to play but my professional career started in Melbourne.

Expressing her gratitude to Bopanna, Sania said, “Rohan was my first mixed doubles partner.

I was 14 then and we had won the national title.

It's 22 years old and I can't think of a better person to end my career with.

He is my best friend and one of my best partners.

The 42-year-old Bopanna has won a Grand Slam title of mixed doubles in the form of French Open.

Sania is just 36 years old and she had already announced that next month's WTA tournament in Dubai would be the last tournament of her career.

She is India's most successful female tennis player.

Sania teamed up with Mahesh Bhupathi to win the mixed doubles titles at the Australian Open in 2009 and the French Open in 2012.

In 2014, he won the mixed doubles title of the US Open together with Bruno Soares of Brazil.

His record in Rod Laver Arena has been good.

She has won the title of women's doubles and mixed doubles here.

Apart from this, she has also been the runner-up four times in the Australian Open.

Sania said, “I started here in 2005 at the age of 18 and then I played against Serena Williams.

I have been fortunate to come here time and again and win a few tournaments and play some good finals here.”

He said, "Rod Laver Arena definitely holds a special place in my life and there could not have been a better place to end my Grand Slam career."

The presence of his son Izhaan and other family members made the occasion special.

Sania said, “I never thought that I would play a Grand Slam final in front of my son, so it is special for me.

My four year old son is here and my parents are here.

Rohan's wife, my trainer and my family are in Australia, which makes me feel at home here."

She said, “Cara Black has been my best friend and my best partner.

I couldn't have achieved anything without all these partners and that's why they are special to me."

The Indian pair did not start well and lost their serve in the first game itself.

But these two experienced Indian players made a good comeback by winning three consecutive games and soon took a 5-3 lead.

Bopanna's poor serve, however, forced him to go to the tiebreaker.

The Brazilian pair found their rhythm and after winning the tie-breaker, they dominated the second set as well.

Meanwhile, Sania could not save her serve in the fourth and eighth games.
