The Parliament adopted the amendments to the Law on Forests in the second reading.

The final texts drawn up by the MPs after nearly an hour of debate combined parts of the three initially submitted draft laws - by Desislava Taneva from GERB-SDS, by Ivan Ivanov from "BSP for Bulgaria" and Ivan Hristanov from "We continue the change".

The purpose of the proposed changes is to create conditions for publicity and transparency of the procedures for supplying firewood to the local population, as well as reducing the opportunities for abuse by giving citizens the opportunity to make informed decisions, it became known during the discussion in plenary hall.

The introduction of the proposed changes is dictated by the need to clearly define the procedures for the use and disposal of wood from the forest territories, specifying the minimum mandatory activities - logging, loading and transport.

This aims at a more comprehensible formation of firewood prices, it is also stated in the reasons.

Increase in illegal logging in forests

A number of additional proposals were introduced between the first and second readings, but as many of them fell outside the scope of the bill, they were rejected or withdrawn.

Some of the texts and editorial amendments to them caused discussions in the plenary hall, notes BTA.
