[Reporter Hua Mengjing/Hualien Report] A mountaineer surnamed Wan joined the Mabo Hengduan mountaineering team on the first day of the Lunar New Year, but left the team due to physical discomfort.

The man called for help on his mobile phone at the south of the Maxi Mountain Triangle this morning. He complained of suspected alpine pulmonary edema symptoms. Today he was flown by a Black Hawk helicopter to Hualien for medical treatment.

The mountaineer surnamed Wan who reported the case reported at the mobile phone communication point 0.5 kilometers south of the triangle point of Maxi Mountain at 6:08 this morning, saying that he was short of breath, coughing, and suspected pulmonary edema, and asked the fire department to send rescuers.

The Hualien County Fire Department was notified that in addition to requesting the air crew to support the helicopter hang, due to the sudden drop in temperature today and worrying about the bad weather in the mountainous area, they also gathered ground personnel at the same time. Fortunately, the air crew evaluated the flightability and flew to Hualien at 9:45 this morning. At the Dexing Stadium, the man also fell due to altitude, and his physical condition improved.

The fire department stated that the man who reported the case said that he set off from Dongpu, Nantou on the 22nd to take the Mabo Hengduan route. He was expected to go down the Yuli Zhongping Forest Road.
