On January 27, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan Seyid Abbas Mousavi was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with the terrorist attack against the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the information given to APA by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, the armed attack on the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran, the terrorist act, was strongly condemned, such attacks against diplomatic missions were unacceptable, and based on the "Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations", it was necessary to protect the building of the mission from all kinds of attacks and it was brought to the attention of the other party that it is the responsibility of the receiving party to ensure the safety of its employees.

In this regard, the competent authorities of Iran strongly demanded that the perpetrator of the terrorist act be brought to justice as soon as possible, a thorough investigation of the terrorist act, identification and punishment of other participants involved in the organization and commission of the crime.

It was also brought to the attention of the meeting that it was regrettable that a planned anti-Azerbaijani campaign was carried out against our country in Iran recently, and that what happened further strained the already complicated relations.

Iranian ambassador Seyyed Abbas Mousavi strongly condemned the armed incident against the Azerbaijani embassy and said that he was deeply saddened by what happened, and expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the embassy employee, as well as to the government and people of Azerbaijan.

At the meeting, the ambassador also stressed that the incident was immediately responded to by the relevant authorities of Iran, and that the issue is currently being investigated by the relevant law enforcement agencies, and detailed information will be made public after the investigation process is completed.
