The former head of the Kherson pretrial detention center and his deputy, who defected to the enemy and headed the occupation authorities, will be tried for

treason

.

This was reported to the Prosecutor General's Office.

The investigation established that the accused went over to the side of the enemy during the occupation of Kherson.

They voluntarily began their service in the occupation law enforcement agency - the so-called "Department of the Penitentiary Service for the Kherson Region".

One of the accused assumed the position of the so-called "assistant head of the department for compliance with human rights in the criminal-executive system", and the other became a "senior operational officer".

Having received pseudo-positions, they acted in violation of international legal norms and standards of treatment of prisoners.

Prisoners were threatened and psychologically pressured due to their reluctance to obtain Russian citizenship or to comply with other instructions of the occupiers.

Both were exposed and detained in Kherson after the liberation of the city by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

They are currently being held in custody, where they will await the court's verdict.

It will be recalled that the employees of the SBU, together with the Security Intelligence Service, exposed an employee of one of the units of the Security Service in the Zaporizhia region, who

was collecting data for the Russian special services.
