This is stated in the statement of the EU made during the meeting of the Permanent Council of the OSCE in Vienna, writes Ukrinform.

"The Kremlin's propaganda and disinformation campaign will not succeed in spreading an illusory alternative reality. We repeat: it was Russia that illegally and baselessly attacked Ukraine. It is Ukraine that is defending itself in Russia's aggressive war, in full compliance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, contrary to Russia's false statements. Ukraine Itself , and not Russia, has demonstrated a genuine interest in reaching an agreement on a just and lasting peace that would fully comply with international law and the principles and obligations of the OSCE, including those enshrined in the Helsinki Final Act," the statement said.

The European Union is more than ever united and in solidarity with Ukraine, which is exercising its inalienable right to self-defense in accordance with international law.

The EU will continue to provide Ukraine with all necessary political, military, financial and humanitarian support, and we will do so "as much as necessary."

"The EU welcomes and supports Ukraine's initiative to achieve a just peace. We are in very close contact with our Ukrainian colleagues, we are fully aware of Ukraine's needs and their urgency, and together with our international partners we are doing everything possible to satisfy them," the statement reads.

The EU reminded that this week the seventh tranche of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 500 million euros was agreed, as well as an additional 45 million euros for the EUMAM Ukraine military training mission.

Thus, the total military support of Ukraine from the EU exceeded 11.5 billion euros, including 3.6 billion euros within the framework of the European Peace Fund.
