Citizens of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union are supposed to be able to legally stay in Kazakhstan for 90 calendar days after crossing the border and a total of 90 calendar days for each period of 180 calendar days.

Until now, there was no 180-year limit for immigrants arriving without visas and for citizens of countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, and upon expiry of the permitted period of stay they could leave Kazakhstan and then return to the country, as in each return the period of residence started anew.

The new rules will not apply to people who arrive in Kazakhstan with a visa and to those who are on its territory with a temporary residence permit.
