Russians have reacted angrily to the news of the supply of Western tanks to Ukraine, and some criticize President Vladimir Putin for starting the war in the first place.

This is reported by CNN with reference to the comments of Moscow residents.

In particular, Serhii, a resident of the Russian capital, repeated the Kremlin's narrative that Ukraine is a puppet government of the West.

"Ukrainian tanks will hinder our troops. But

we are going to win, regardless

. This is just an extension of the conflict," said the Russian.

An elderly woman expressed the opinion that

"this will lead to another world war."

"We remember the Second World War well when I was a child. No one is going to win another world war," said the Russian woman.

At the same time, some Russians expressed outrage at the war and directly criticized Putin.

"It's disgusting... they should never have started a war,"

one woman said, calling the Russian president "guilty" of the invasion.

Another person expressed disappointment with Russian propaganda, saying that "there is a lack of public information."

"People need to explain things... it would be good if the experts started expressing their real opinion instead of following orders from the government and Putin," this person added.

"I believe that this is a political war, not a war for the people

. Let them (politicians - ed.) decide it," said another woman.

A Russian filmmaking student whose friends are currently fighting in Ukraine said:

"I'm on the verge of tears here

. I just wish this 'special war operation' never started, this war, and that human life was truly valued."

We will remind, even before Germany's official decision to transfer Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, the spokesman of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmytro Peskov, threatened Berlin, saying that "such deliveries do not bode well for the future of relations and will leave an inevitable mark."

And the head of the Russian delegation in Vienna at the OSCE forum on military security and arms control, Konstantin Gavrilov, made a false statement that the Leopard 2 tanks were allegedly equipped with sub-caliber armor-piercing shells with uranium cores.

Gavrilov said that their use against the Russian military would be considered the use of "dirty nuclear bombs."

Note that according to a poll as of the end of December 2022, 71% of Russians supported the war against Ukraine.
