In today's issue of the State Gazette, the government's decree on the free travel of children up to 10 years old in public transport and discounts on travel is published - with 70 percent of the regular price of transporting students and doctoral students in full-time study and a 40 percent discount on travel of pensioners.

The decree is in effect from February 1 to December 31 this year and describes how carriers will receive compensation and what transport documents they will issue.

The decree stipulates that children up to the age of 10 will be issued a card for free travel on intra-city transport and a zero-value ticket on inter-urban transport.

The zero-value ticket will be issued against the provision of the child's birth certificate.

On a monthly basis, the carriers will submit to the mayors, and they - to the state, an inventory of the value of the subscription cards of children up to 10 years old.

The value of the tickets issued with a zero value for intercity transport will also be compensated to the carriers on a monthly basis based on the assignment transport inventory-bill provided in the municipality.

For students and pensioners, the reductions will be reflected in the subscription cards for the main city lines and in the cards for intercity travel, which will also be reported monthly by the carriers.

Pursuant to the adopted decree, carriers must cancel subscription cards issued prior to the entry into force of this decree, which have a validity period of more than one month, by reimbursing the holders proportionally the difference between the new price and the price of the card before the entry into force this decree from February 1, until the deadline - December 31.

The decree was also published in the State Gazette, with which municipalities are allocated 27 million BGN to compensate for transportation to remote settlements.
