In Kyiv, there was talk again about the dismantling of the Soviet monuments - to General Vatutin and pilot Chkalov.

This is reported to the Ministry of Culture.

But the Kyiv City Council notes that this is "another game of ping-pong with monuments", but there are no specifics on their removal from the public space of the capital.

Yesterday it became known that the expert commission of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy recommends to the Kyiv administration to dismantle and move the monument to Soviet general Mykola Vatutin, which is located in Mariinsky Park, and also to recognize the object as meeting the criteria and signs of a monument of monumental art .

It is also recommended to dismantle the Chkalov monument.

The Kyiv City Council explains that the expert commission under the Ministry of Culture is an advisory body.

"I would call it a ping-pong game regarding the Vatutin monument, which began between the Ministry of Culture and the KMDA. The commission recommended not to remove the protection status from the Vatutin monument, since the author is the famous sculptor Yevhen Vuchetych, but recommended that the city move it. Actually, in the decision of the Kyiv City Council states - to move it to another place. There should be a decision of the Ministry of Culture on this issue, but in general, even without this, nothing prevents the city from moving this monument. There is a special procedure for this. It is only necessary that the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection of the heritage of the KMDA provided a transfer project. But this moment was put on the "stop" in the department. And not only for Vatutin, but also for other monuments, the decision to dismantle them was made back in 2015 as part of decommunization - this is the monument to the Taraschans , and Shchorsu and others," he tells the site

TSN.ua

deputy of the Kyiv City Council Ksenia Semenova.

According to the deputy, the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection of the KMDA for some reason complains that it is too difficult to develop a dismantling project.

"The Department believes that it is very difficult - there are no funds and personnel. Therefore, they insist that the Ministry of Culture should remove the protected status from the monument, they say, then they will be able to move it. This is such a ping-pong game. Once again: the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection , says that he cannot develop a dismantling project, although this is a question within their powers, and the Ministry of Culture does not want to remove the protection status from Vatutin - make a project for its transfer. The same is the case with the Chkalov monument. Meanwhile, Kyivans do not understand why these Soviet the symbols are still in the public space of the capital," Ksenia Semenova explains to us.

She adds that, in fact, neither Vatutin nor Chkalov's protective status has been removed, but the issue of dismantling both monuments to totalitarianism is being deliberately delayed.

And Dmytro Bilotserkovets, a member of the Kyiv City Council, has a slightly different opinion.

On his page in the social network, he announced that the monument to Chkalov will be dismantled in Kyiv.

But at the same time, the specialized expert commission under the Ministry of Culture is doing everything to ensure that the monument to Vatutin remains near the Verkhovna Rada.

"The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy held a long-awaited meeting of the expert commission, which considered the submission of the Kyiv city government regarding the removal of the status of cultural heritage objects from the Vatutin and Chkalov monuments, which will make it possible to dismantle them. With Chkalov, the story is simpler, because the commission recommended remove the status, which opens the way for dismantling. It is planned in the near future. But they recommended including the Vatutin monument as a monument of monumental art, which will complicate and delay the dismantling process. It seems that the commission under the Ministry is doing everything to ensure that the monument remains in the center of Kyiv monument to Vatutin," writes Dmytro Bilotserkovets.

In the comments, contributors note that under the monument is the grave of Vatutin, which must be reburied, for example, at the Lukyaniv military cemetery.

Bilotserkovets notes that the issue of Vatutin is not about the burial, but only about the monument.

The deputy turns to the Minister of Culture of Ukraine and asks to intervene in the situation "because there will be a disaster".

"We are waiting for an order from the ministry, after which Kyiv will remove these objects from the public space. Pushkin and Shchors are next, and the Ministry of Culture should also give the green light for their dismantling," the deputy of the Kyiv City Council notes.

We will remind you that earlier in Kyiv, the monument to the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin radically changed its appearance.

Unknown activists put a cellophane bag on the bronze monument, which is located on Victory Avenue, and attached a sheet with a portrait of the Ukrainian writer Mykhailo Kotsiubinsky.

In this way, they hint to whom it is better to put a monument here.
