In 2022, the crime rate per 100,000 population increased by 1.8%, the number of deaths decreased, the newspaper of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "Na Varta" reports, writes BPN.

952 crimes per 100,000 population were recorded against 935 a year earlier (1,009 in 2020, 932 in 2019, 882 in 2018).

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, crime has increased due to fraud involving elderly citizens who were tricked into handing over money to criminals.

The peak of such crimes fell on May.

From June to December, their number decreased by almost 2.2 times.

Criminal police officers discovered 30 channels of drug supply from abroad, stopped the activity of 19 online shops selling illegal substances.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs allegedly documented the illegal activities of more than 3,400 people, whose actions caused damage to the economy.

Last year, fewer crimes were recorded in public places and rural areas.

The number of murders, robberies, and cases of intentional infliction of serious bodily injuries has decreased.

At the same time, the number of crimes committed while under the influence of alcohol has not changed, one-third more citizens have been sent to medical and labor prevention centers than a year ago (the Ministry of Internal Affairs does not provide figures).
