Just before his death, he met Antony, who came to him after seeing a vision.

The saints talked for a long time, and then Paul asked Anthony to bury him.

The saint died at the age of 113 while praying.

Although he did not found any monastery during his lifetime, his associates did it later than him.

Therefore, Paul is often considered the father of Orthodox monasticism.

He came from a rich family that lived in Constantinople.

John received a good education at that time, he liked to read spiritual books and study the lives of saints.

When he grew up, he realized that worldly life was not for him.

Once he met a monk from the Nevysypushchy monastery, after which he asked his parents for the Holy Scriptures and sailed to the monks on a ship.

For a long time John persuaded him to cut his hair, until the monks agreed.

After all, he surprised them with his daily prayer and strict abstinence.

Six years passed and John overcame the devil, so the man wanted to return home.

He was released from the monastery, but on the way he disguised himself as a beggar and went to live in a hut near his parents' house.

The parents did not recognize their son, but often fed the poor man from their table.

Soon, the Lord himself appeared before John and said that he would soon die.

Then the saint revealed himself to his parents and immediately died.

He was then 25 years old.

He was buried near the chicken coop where he lived, and then a church was built there.
