People's deputy Mykola Tyshchenko got into a loud scandal when, in the midst of the war, he went to Thailand ostensibly for a "meeting with the Ukrainian community."

In the wake of popular indignation, the deputy was expelled from the "Servant of the People" parliamentary faction, depriving him of the position of deputy head of the faction.

At the same time, Tyshchenko, who has already managed to "light up" in many scandals, retains his seat in the Verkhovna Rada - the case did not reach the point of deprivation of the deputy's mandate.

TSN.ua collected all the details about Mykola Tyshchenko's trip.

Scandalous "business trip"

It became known about the foreign trip of the people's deputy from the message of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Thailand.

The diplomatic mission on its website published an invitation "to a meeting with the People's Deputy of Ukraine of the 9th convocation, Mr. Mykola Tyshchenko, to discuss issues of improving interaction with representatives of the Ukrainian community in the Kingdom of Thailand."

This happened against the background of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to introduce a strict regime of control over departure from the country for people's deputies and officials.

According to the decision of the National Security Council dated January 23, these categories of persons can travel abroad during martial law only on business trips.

Tyshchenko insists that he went to Thailand for work - they say, the December faction of "Servant of the People" was tasked with developing friendly relations with the countries of Asia and Africa.

"Currently, I am indeed on a business trip to Asia. All senior leaders are aware, as is the head of my faction. There is a war going on and we are only following orders. I do not hide my whereabouts, all my meetings are official and documented. I remind you that I am the co-chairman of the friendship group with Vietnam," said the deputy.

A photo of one of the people's deputies' meetings in Thailand even got into the Internet.

However, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada

Ruslan Stefanchuk

claims that he did not send Tyshchenko abroad.

"As the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, I did not sign the order for a business trip to Thailand," Stefanchuk emphasized.

How Zelensky and the "servants of the people" reacted

The President of Ukraine,

Volodymyr Zelenskyi

, in his address to Ukrainians on January 26, emphasized that any trip abroad by state officials must be made in accordance with the relevant decision of the National Security Council.

"Unfortunately, I am forced to repeat this for those who did not hear well. Any trip abroad by state officials, people's deputies, representatives of local authorities and other persons who are authorized to perform the functions of the state or local self-government, any trip abroad by them must be in accordance with the relevant decision of the National Security Council, which you all saw," Zelenskyi said.

The head of the "Servant of the People" faction in the Verkhovna Rada

, David Arakhamiya

, expressed his indignation that "not everyone understands what people's deputies should do during a war."

Arakhamia initiated Tyshchenko's dismissal from the position of deputy head of the "Servant of the People" faction, as well as his exclusion from the faction and the party.

Arakhamia was supported by colleagues from the faction and decided to exclude Tyshchenko.

At the same time, fragments of Tyshchenko's correspondence with fellow party members were leaked to the Internet, where the people's deputy signed as "Trainer" claims that the leadership of the faction knew about his trip.

He insists that he went "titanically" to work, and not to relax at sea, and emphasizes that he is in Thailand on transit and without a family.

In what other scandals did Tyshchenko "distinguish" himself

Mykola Tyshchenko repeatedly appeared in various scandalous stories during his term as a deputy.

At the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, the Velyur restaurant in Kyiv, owned by Tyshchenko, did not stop working even when other public catering establishments were closed due to quarantine.

Journalists have repeatedly noticed how "Velur" is visited by politicians and other famous people.

In response, Tyshchenko stated that personal meetings are held in his restaurant: "This is a kind of headquarters, but the restaurant is not open for visitors."

In April 2021, during the period of strict quarantine, the people's deputy organized a party in a Kyiv hotel in honor of his wife's birthday.

According to media reports, the people's deputy, in addition to violating quarantine rules, set off large-scale fireworks for guests, which are prohibited in the capital.

Tyshchenko justified himself by the fact that the celebration allegedly took place not in a restaurant, but in hotel rooms, so legally nothing was violated.

After the start of a full-scale war with Russia, Mykola Tyshchenko was already seen on a trip abroad.

In June 2022, the Ukrainian singer TAYANNA took part in a charity dinner in the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague, where funds were collected for the Armed Forces.

The singer showed a photo from the event, at which Tyshchenko was also present.

In the comments, users of social networks were outraged why the people's deputy is abroad when there is a war in Ukraine.

However, this story did not receive much publicity.

In addition, the elected official is known for his habit of confusing holidays.

On the Day of Ukrainian Statehood, July 28, Tyshchenko decided to congratulate Ukrainians on Independence Day.

Soon the deputy realized the mistake, deleted the post and congratulated Ukrainians on the Day of the Baptism of Russia and on the Day of Ukrainian Statehood.

And on Christmas, the deputy congratulated Ukrainians on Easter - published a poem on social networks that ended with the words: "Christ will rise!".

In July 2022, Tyshchenko was prematurely removed from the post of chairman of the Transcarpathian regional organization "Servants of the People".

The political force explained this decision by the fact that the party should not be associated "with public scandals, dubious PR actions and quarrels."
