There are long delays at Otopeni Airport in Bucharest due to bad weather conditions. Wet snow has been falling and a strong wind has been blowing in the Romanian capital since early morning.
So far, nine planes have taken off with a delay of over two hours.
"Most of the delays come from the Wizz Air company, but a Ryanair plane also had the same problems," the airport reports, adding that they have taken all safety measures.
Fog hampers air traffic in Suceava, informs the website Ziare.
Two Tarom flights to Bucharest and Luton have already been cancelled.
"There may be others," the airport director warned.
Yellow code for blizzards and heavy snowfall in Romania
A Code Orange for snow and blizzard conditions is in effect until Sunday morning for the entire state.
In the counties of Vranca, Buzău and in the mountainous area of Prahova, Dumbovica and Argesh, the wind is expected to reach a speed of up to 65 km/h.
Visibility there is reduced, writes BTA.
In Dobruja, Muntenia, Southern Carpathians and in some parts of Moldova, South-Eastern Transylvania and in the Eastern Carpathians there will be significant precipitation of rain and snow.
In places in the mountains, the snow cover has already reached 125 centimeters, Digi 24 reports.
