US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland named the mandatory conditions for softening sanctions against State Duma deputies.

She discussed this possibility together with Senator Rand Paul.

Nuland said this on Thursday, January 26, at a hearing in the Senate Committee on International Affairs.

"Russia's decision to negotiate seriously and withdraw its troops from Ukraine and return territory, I would certainly support that. I think US Secretary of State Blinken would do the same," Nuland said in a statement.

To which Senator Paul proposed to conclude an agreement with Russia on the mutual lifting of sanctions on American and Russian lawmakers.

In his opinion, sanctions were imposed on Russian deputies because they support the war against Ukraine, which makes dialogue and "legislative exchange" difficult.

Note that Ron Paul is the founder of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity, which consistently promotes pro-Russian and anti-Ukrainian narratives.

In particular, he opposes the spending of taxpayers' money to support other countries and their political forces.

His father, Senator John McCain, has been called a Kremlin agent because of his opposition to Montenegro joining NATO.

Subsequently, he opposed the introduction of new sanctions against Russia.
