Two tank cars with phosphoric acid derailed today before noon at the main railway station in the Serbian town of Zajcar, the "Danas" newspaper reports.

During the incident, there was no leakage or release of poisonous vapors and there was no danger to human life or the environment, the company Cargo Serbia reported.

"The freight train was made up of 12 tank cars owned by the company Elixir and was traveling from Prahovo to Šabac. Representatives of the Joint Railway Commission for the Investigation of Extraordinary Events in the Infrastructure of Serbian Railways and Cargo Serbia came to the scene, which will establish the cause of the incident," the message said.

The movement of passenger and freight trains at Zaichar station has not been suspended.

Police and fire trucks were dispatched to the scene.

Three propylene wagons derailed in Serbia

Over the past month, there have been several incidents in Serbia of derailed tankers carrying ammonia, phosphoric acid and propylene.

In the first incident, which happened at the end of December last year, when ammonia leaked from a tank near Pirot, two people died.
