Double-digit growth in the prices of goods that we most often use in households over the last year.

This is reported by sellers of personal hygiene products, detergents and cleaning agents.

In search of lower prices, more and more consumers in our country are betting on shopping tourism and buying essential goods from the markets of other countries.

Is it cheaper to buy washing powder, shampoo or diapers outside?

See a price comparison of 11 basic household goods in Bulgaria and in 5 other countries, Nova TV broadcasts.

"We go specifically for shopping. It's straight up shopping tourism. There is a difference, especially from our neighbors like Turkey, Macedonia and Serbia. For me, it's much cheaper," Georgi Georgiev told Nova TV.

The biggest difference is with the prices in Turkey.

"Whatever we bought from there - food products or preparations, everything is cheaper. Until last year, they were many times lower. This year they are in percentages - 30-40%", he explains.

"When it came to children's goods, it was best for me to shop in England. Diapers from the biggest brands, which are in Bulgaria, came out of there at half the cost of transport. From Germany, food and preparations are a little cheaper than here. In Greece the prices are close to ours, but people also go there only because it is of better quality," he points out.

Scandalous: A check on stores in 5 countries found out how much more expensive it is in our country

In France, the government has asked retail chains since March to guarantee the lowest possible prices on 20 basic products.

For the list of 11 products for comparison, a little over BGN 115 is paid in Nice.

In the UK, people are turning to the big chains' own brands, which are cheaper.

The market with the selected 11 goods from the list costs just under BGN 75.

In Italy, 110 BGN were paid for the same list of goods in a Roman supermarket.

There is an institution in the country that controls prices.

She monitors shelf labels and reports any suspicious price movements.

The products from the experimental list in Greece cost BGN 92.

Until March, in our southern neighbor, the prices of 50 basic goods will be subject to a ceiling set by the state.

In Turkey, the products on the list cost BGN 57. Washing powder costs about BGN 16, fabric softener - about BGN 5, and liquid soap - just over BGN 4.

In our country, the products from the list have increased in price between 8 and 20% over the last year.

Almost all personal care products are increased every quarter.

The bill in Sofia comes out to just over BGN 90.

Thus, out of 6 countries, we rank fourth in terms of the most expensive market.

One of the reasons for this is the fact that our country is a small market.
