[Reporter Liu Binquan/Report from Nantou] Although the temperature in central China has been low recently, the weather has been stable. Some people saw the sky covered with cotton candy clouds in Caotun Jiujiufeng area of Nantou yesterday (26th), but there was only one place with only blue sky. Without clouds, it is like a "big hole in the sky". In this regard, the Yushan Meteorological Station stated that this weather phenomenon is called "cloud hole".

People said that they visited the Jiujiufeng area in Caotun yesterday, the weather was quite good, and there was a big sun, around 4:00 p.m., when they looked into the sky, the whole sky was covered with cotton candy-like silky clouds, and the scene was quite beautiful. But in the clouds all over the sky, I was surprised to see a big hole. There was only blue sky and no clouds in the hole, so I hurriedly took pictures and recorded it.

The Yushan Meteorological Station stated that the cloud cover in the public’s mouth is the so-called altocumulus, which will only occur when the weather is stable. As for the big hole in the sky, it is the phenomenon of “cloud hole”. When it blows downward, the water droplets in the clouds evaporate, and the ice crystals fall down, forming a cavity. When people look at the sky from the ground, they will feel that the sky has broken a hole.

The weather in the last few days of the Lunar New Year holiday is expected to turn dry and cold. Due to the lack of moisture in high mountainous areas, the chance of snowfall is low. If you want to travel or go hiking in the mountains, you should still pay attention to keeping warm.
