Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu condemned the "treacherous attack" on the embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran, in which one person was killed and two others were injured, Anadolu Agency and BTA reported.

"I condemn the treacherous attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran. Azerbaijan is never alone," Cavusoglu tweeted, noting his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.

He, wishing "the mercy of Allah for our martyred brother" and expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased and the people of Azerbaijan.

In a separate statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry also strongly condemned the armed attack.

"Turkey, which has been the target of such attacks in the past, deeply shares the grief of the Azerbaijani people," the statement read.

"It is very important that those responsible for this heinous act are immediately arrested and brought to justice," the foreign ministry said, confirming Ankara's support for Azerbaijan.

Meanwhile, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay also condemned the attack on the embassy building.

"We are always one and together with Azerbaijan," Oktay said on Twitter, sharing Turkish and Azerbaijani flags, BTA reported.

Earlier today, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said the embassy's head of security was killed and two guards were wounded in an attack on the security post with Kalashnikov automatic weapons.
