Would it be beneficial if we introduced a 4-day working week in Bulgaria or vice versa?

More and more often, this question enters among Bulgarian companies.

Therefore, whether it will be beneficial or harmful, there are quite eloquent opinions.

On the one hand, by shortening working days, at the expense of holidays, employees will have a better balance between personal and professional life.

Vacations and sick days will decrease as they will have more time for rest and personal commitments.

Productivity will increase, people will feel better and happier at work.

On the other hand, the shortening of the working week is likely to affect the pay of employees.

It will depend solely on the company and the conditions it offers.

The training of new personnel will take more time and resources, which will affect the quality and time of completion of the assigned tasks.

In Bulgaria, the 4-day working week has already been introduced in some companies.

They comment that wages have not changed and employee productivity has not decreased.

According to the chairman of the Bulgarian Employment Confederation, Nadia Vasileva, there is an opportunity to officially adopt the shortening of the working week.

For this to happen, however, serious preparation is needed, as well as changes in the law.

"It is clear that when a four-day working week is introduced, in 90% of cases the salary does not change, it remains as for a five-day working week.

There are pluses from the point of view that with such a model, employees manage to focus, concentrate and are sometimes much more efficient and productive," Vasileva also said in an interview with BTA.

The four-day work week is increasingly commented on and desired by large companies.

A large part of them hesitate, since they have not weighed which of the positives and negatives will prevail after this change.

As a compromise, some companies give their employees a choice, namely a 5-day work week, with an 8-hour work day, or a 4-day work week, with a 10-hour work day.

In this way, employees have a choice and can calculate what is better according to their needs.
