The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, announced three days of mourning in the country.

APA reports with reference to AFP that Mahmoud Abbas announced three days of mourning due to the death of 9 Palestinians during a clash with the Israeli army in Jenin this morning.

Palestinian media reported that it was decided to lower the flags in the country to half-mast.


The Israeli side said that the military shot and killed the wanted members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, who were planning an attack, as well as other armed people who clashed with the soldiers in the camp.


The Israel Defense Forces announced that it is investigating the death of an elderly woman who was reportedly killed during the clashes.

The UN Middle East envoy said he was deeply concerned and saddened by the violence and called on the parties to "reduce tension and restore calm".
