The Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic discussed with the European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Oliver Varhej the reconstruction of the high-speed railway line Nis - Belgrade, for which the EU will provide a grant worth 600 million euros, Tanjug reported.

On this occasion, Vesic repeated yesterday in Brussels that this is the largest grant that Serbia has received from the EU.

"This railway line will allow us to continue with the high-speed railway we are currently working on to Subotica and Budapest.

At the meeting, I presented another possibility, which was well received, namely that the EU, together with us, participates in the project for the reconstruction of 588 km of regional railway lines," said Vesic.

He specified that these are railway lines that must be completely reconstructed and electrified and added that he had also talked with the European Commissioner about other projects and other railway lines.

According to his words, at the meetings in the European Commission, he gave the idea for the formation of a European-Serbian joint committee, in which representatives of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and representatives of the Commission will sit, with the aim of speeding up the work on transport projects.
