The US will not be able to send its Abrams tanks to Ukraine until spring, arguing that heavy equipment takes more time to be delivered.

This was stated by US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland at the hearing of the Senate Committee on International Affairs on Thursday, January 26.

"Even if we approved their transfer yesterday

(January 25 - ed.)

, it will take some time to get them to the battlefield. This is not the kind of equipment that will appear before the offensive in the spring," Nuland stressed.

She also explained why the US could not make a decision to send tanks to Ukraine earlier.

Nuland said that the State Department monitored every step of the Ukrainians.

In the fall, the Ukrainian military did not need this equipment.

"At each stage, we looked at what the Ukrainians needed, what they asked for. In the fall, there was a period when they captured a huge number of Russian tanks on the battlefield, which they were able to successfully use during the offensives in the Kherson and Kharkiv area, but now they need more." , - she emphasized.
