The United States does not rule out the possibility of softening the sanctions against Russia, introduced due to harsh aggression against Ukraine, if Putin withdraws all troops from Ukraine and sits down at the negotiating table. 

This was stated by US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland at the hearing of the Senate Committee on International Affairs on Thursday, January 26.

"In the context of Putin's decision to conduct serious negotiations, withdraw his troops from Ukraine and return the territory, I will, of course, support (the easing of sanctions - ed.). I think that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will too," she said.
