"The first Leopard tanks will arrive in Ukraine within a few weeks," Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Wojciech Skurkiewicz said, as quoted by the Kyiv-based European Pravda newspaper.

"I am convinced that this matter (the delivery of the combat vehicles) can be resolved in weeks," he added.

Skurkiewicz added that his country is ready to provide its eastern neighbor with 14 Leopard tanks.

He recalled a statement by Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak that Poland will start providing tanks to Ukraine after other countries make such a decision.

"We are ready to receive Ukrainian soldiers who will undergo training on how to use combat vehicles, the deputy minister added. As soon as they are ready, we will give the tanks. It is a matter of weeks," he pointed out.

Skurkevich added: We hope that together with our allies we will be able to give Ukraine 100 Leopards.

Currently, there are about 2,000 tanks of this type in Europe.
