The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) commented on the European Union (EU) sending a 100-person civilian mission to Armenia, including to the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border, for a period of two years.

APA cites the Ministry as saying that the Russian Foreign Ministry has informed that EU observers in Armenia may bring geopolitical conflict to the region.

"The appearance of representatives of the European Union in the border areas of Armenia may bring a geopolitical conflict to the region and intensify existing conflicts.

It is also the EU's attempts to obstruct Russia's mediation mission in the South Caucasus, it is capable of hitting the fundamental interests of Armenians and Azerbaijanis and the return to peace in the region," it was noted.
