The first German Patriot systems arrived in Poland.

These systems will strengthen the country's air defense and contribute to the defense of NATO's eastern flank.

This is reported by the Polish mass media.

On Monday, the German Bundeswehr began the process of redeploying to Poland the first two of the three promised batteries of the Patriot air defense system.

They set out from a base near Rostock in Mecklenburg.

On Wednesday, January 26, they arrived at their destination.

By deploying air defense forces in Poland, "Germany will increase its contribution to solidarity with NATO allies in Eastern Europe," the Bundeswehr said in a statement.

The Patriot system will be used to protect Poland's airspace and strengthen NATO's integrated air defense on the eastern flank.

The duration of the mission will be agreed between NATO partners, and the unit will be commanded by Colonel Jörg Sievers.

It should be noted that after

one missile landed on Polish territory in November as a result of the Russian attack on Ukraine,

then German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht and her Polish counterpart Mariusz Blaszczak agreed on the placement of German Patriot systems in Poland.

These systems are capable of eliminating missiles and aircraft approaching within a radius of about 70 kilometers.

As a reminder, Poland will receive

American Abrams tanks in the spring.

These will be the first samples of the batch of 250 ordered tanks.
