The validity of Martí's thought in the ideas and actions of Fidel Castro was debated today at the V International Conference for the Balance of the World, which takes place until January 28 at the Havana Convention Center.

"The close relationship that existed between Fidel and Martí is a consequence of the will of the first revolutionary leader, who expressed it this way from his first political texts, such as

La Historia me Absolverá,

where in 40 Martí's voice appears explicitly," he stated in the meeting with Pedro Pablo Rodríguez, senior researcher at the Center for Martian Studies.

The scholar also pointed out that even in the expressive oral and written style of the Commander in Chief, the presence of Marti is perceived, since

the apostle "was not a passing fad in Fidel

" and had an impact on the ethical justification of the method of action followed to overthrow the tyranny of Batista (since the demoralization of the opposing troops) and in the social transformations after the triumph of the Revolution.

All this led to the fact that, in the words of the Dominican friar Frei Betto,

170 years after the birth of Martí and 64 years after the Cuban Revolution, the only socialist country in the history of the West is this Caribbean archipelago,

which, despite of the difficulties, puts politics and the economy in function of guaranteeing the people basic rights such as food, health and education.
