The Russian occupiers are spreading a fake about the alleged attack on Vugledar in the Donetsk region.

Which is actually just an attempt to create a "positive narrative" against the background of the lack of progress of Putin's troops in

Bakhmut

.

This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

ISW analysts noted that Russian propaganda began to massively spread information that, they say, the 155th Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Armed Forces was allegedly able to break through the defenses of Ukraine near Vugledar, as well as advance north of Pavlivka.

However, the experts pointed out that the

occupiers lost a lot of forces in the Vugledar area as early as November 2022 and are unlikely to be able to resume a new offensive on this part of the front

.

According to analysts, there are no real signs of recovery of the Russian occupiers in the western part of Donetsk region.

"ISW has not recorded any video footage indicating that Russian forces have launched a local offensive in the Vugledar area as of January 25. Russian sources likely intend to repeat similar ongoing actions in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, where Russian sources have circulated claims of localized Russian offensives without any confirmation to divert attention from the fact that Russian forces have not achieved any significant operational success around Bakhmut," ISW emphasizes.

In addition, analysts are convinced that the actions of the occupiers, despite the propaganda of the Russians, do not indicate a resumption of their offensive in the west of the Donetsk region.

"Regardless of whether Russian forces are conducting localized offensive operations near Vugledar, or whether Russian sources are exaggerating Russian activity on this part of the front, Russian efforts are likely focused on supporting this information operation and do not herald a resumption of Russian offensive in western Donetsk region," - added at the Institute.

What is happening in Donetsk region

The fiercest battles continue in Donbas, in particular

for Bakhmut and Soledar

.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin

personally set deadlines for the capture of the entire Donbas 14 times,

but the occupiers are stuck near Bakhmut and suffer heavy losses every day.

On January 23, it became known that

Ukrainian border guards-mortars captured the position of the occupiers

near Bakhmut in Donetsk region.

Meanwhile, in Donetsk region, the ranks of the "Wagnerians" were significantly thinned out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but the enemy raised new forces.

According to the Pentagon,

Russia is sending tens of thousands of mobilized troops

to strengthen its positions in the Bakhmut region.

Bakhmut's defense is called

"strategically correct" by the Institute for the Study of War.

Polish General Waldemar Skrzypchak explained that the battles for

Bakhmut and Soledar and the possibility of a new offensive by the occupiers are related

operations.

According to him, if the Russians manage to capture Bakhmut, it will enable them to reach the Kramatorsk-Slovyansk line.

It is this line that Putin seeks to connect with other territories in the east along the Vorskla River and the left bank of the Dnieper.

At the same time, military expert Dmytro Snegiriov warned that the Russian army considers the Donetsk region as a priority for a new major offensive.

The expert noted that primarily mobilized Russians will take part in the offensive.
