"Currently, Sweden is not preparing for a donation of tanks, but it is not excluded that this will happen at a later stage," Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson told Svenska Dagbladet.

He had already stated last Friday that, in principle, Sweden would not object to sending tanks to Ukraine.

The Swedish Armed Forces have about 120 Leopard 2 tanks.

According to information from the Norwegian media, Norway is also considering whether to send "leopards" to Ukraine, but no decision has been made yet.

According to Dagens Neringsleeve, it would be possible for Norway to provide up to eight of its total of 36 Leopard 2 tanks.

Finnish Defense Minister Miko Savola said today that his country will join the group of countries sending tanks to Ukraine, although its contribution will be limited, Reuters reported.

He declined to comment on what the size of the Finnish contribution might be.

Germany gives the green light for deliveries of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine

The Netherlands is ready to deliver tanks to Ukraine if needed, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said today.

Rutte added that the Netherlands could buy tanks it currently leases from Germany and provide them to Ukraine.

Spain is also ready to provide Ukraine with German-made Leopard 2 tanks, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles said.

She told the Spanish news agency EFE that Spain would act in coordination with its Western allies.

According to security and defense researcher Felix Arteaga of the Elcano think tank, Spain has 108 Leopard 2A4 tanks. About half of them are stationed in the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, and 53 are in reserve and in need of overhaul, which it will likely take several months, Arteaga added.
