Oleksandr Pedan

, the leader of the educational travel project "UniverCheck 2. Professions" ,

recently visited one of the oldest classical universities of Ukraine, the Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University, with filming.

Due to the incredible beauty of the architecture and history, the central building of the educational institution was included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 2011.

And, every year, before the full-scale invasion, several tens of thousands of tourists came to see ChNU.

"We received many messages with requests to visit ChNU. No wonder, it's a very good university! And, by the way, it's the only university in Ukraine that performs a dual function - as an institution of higher education and a UNESCO World Heritage Site," Pedan said.

The central building of the university – its exterior and interior – stunned the project team, as did the city of Chernivtsi itself.

But the dormitory of the educational institution evoked completely opposite emotions.

"First of all, the students complained that the dormitories are located far from the university - a 45-minute walk. But for me, this was not the biggest problem. The dormitories are not in order. It seems that cosmetic repairs have been made - the walls are painted. But the corridors are cluttered with unnecessary things - old refrigerators with unpleasant smell, closets, beds, piles of clothes. This is prohibited even by fire safety. There was also no light in the corridors. And we filmed this before the blackout. Although the price is, of course, more than democratic - 3,500 hryvnias per semester. There are also benefits for students." - commented the host.

Pedan hopes that the situation has changed since his visit, and ChNU has improved living conditions in the dormitory or will do so in the near future.

Because students deserve comfort and safety, and the university deserves a sufficient number of interested and conscious students.

The project "UniverCheck 2. Professions" is an educational travel, the purpose of which is to popularize Ukrainian higher education institutions and at the same time objectively highlight their strengths and weaknesses.

Together with his eldest daughter Lera, TV presenter Oleksandr Pedan travels to universities, talks about studying there, shows dormitories and introduces the city where the educational institution is located.

And in the second season, "UniverCheck 2. Professions" also shares professional perspectives thanks to excursions to top Ukrainian companies.
