The number of deaths due to abnormally cold weather in Afghanistan has reached 157 people.

APA reports with reference to CNN that the representative of the radical Taliban movement, which seized power in Afghanistan, released information about this.

It was reported that the number of people who died from freezing as a result of a sharp drop in temperature has doubled within a week.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) announced some time ago that it started distributing various heating supplies, heating devices and shelters intended for 565 thousand people in order to help the people of Afghanistan.

It should be noted that severe cold has been recorded in Afghanistan since the beginning of this year.

Thus, the air temperature has dropped to 28 degrees below zero, and Afghanistan is experiencing the coldest winter for this period of the year.

The UN OCHA has reported that the adverse effects of such drastic temperature changes are exacerbating the humanitarian crisis, and aid is now needed to save the lives of 30 million people (about two-thirds of the country's population).
