The current National Assembly to approve as soon as possible the "Vision for a strategy for the development of the Bulgarian energy industry 2023-2053", which was presented by the Ministry of Energy on January 17.

This is what the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (KNSB) insists in its opinion on the strategy, published on its website by the trade union organization.

The opinion was sent to acting Prime Minister Galab Donev and the chairman of the parliamentary committee on energy, Delyan Dobrev.

In it, KNSB gives ten specific proposals to improve the vision for the energy strategy.

On January 17, the Minister of Energy presented a strategic vision for the development of the electricity sector in Bulgaria.

The Council of Ministers approved the document and instructed the Minister of Energy to present it to the National Assembly.

KNSB lists specific proposals to be included in the strategy and which, according to trade unionists, protect the national interest.

Among the proposals are for the state to retain a majority stake in key energy infrastructure to ensure security of energy supply at an affordable price for end users.

The trade unionists also demand that financial resources be provided for "Mini Maritsa Iztok" and TPP "Maritsa Iztok 2" to reduce harmful emissions and to guarantee the possibility of working under market conditions after 2025.

Minister Hristov: The energy sector needs a long-term vision the most

The development of the Kozloduy NPP with new capacities should be under the conditions of maintaining a minimum 85% state share, the Confederation points out.

It is also proposed to promote the development of energy production systems for own needs, energy efficiency and the production of hydrogen for industrial and transport purposes.

KNSB has specific proposals presented to the Minister of Energy, which aim at a smooth transition of the coal regions while respecting the interests of the employees and the workers themselves, the organization adds.
