In an interview with TSN.ua, an aviation expert and leading researcher of the State Aviation Museum named after
O. K. Antonova Valery Romanenko.
"Everything points to the fact that we will probably receive F-16 aircraft. Why did this happen? These aircraft are in Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria. That is, for ensuring combat missions, these aircraft are ideal. If problems arise, then in some of the countries A service center will be created in Europe. There we will be able to transfer these planes for repair, so as not to take them to the USA, Turkey. Now they are leaning towards these planes, although we will not give up on others. It would be ideal to get two types of planes - F-15 and F-16. The latter can fight enemy aircraft, fight enemy air defense systems. It can suppress Russian air defense in an entire area. Although in order to get the planes, we need to convert our airstrips. Because we can only use them with international airports or hang only half the guns on them.Everyone is clamoring to buy airplanes,but they forget that we have to get a lot of ingredients," the expert explained.
Romanenko added that pilot training on these planes can last up to six months.
It will be recalled that the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, hinted that the state could receive American-made F-16 fighter jets from Western partners.
