Due to the cold weather in

, electricity consumption is increasing.

That is why the power deficit is increasing significantly.

"Ukrenergo" informed about the situation in the power system as of January 25.

According to the operator, electricity production at operating power plants cannot fully cover consumption.

At present, consumption limits have been established for all oblenergos, which apply throughout the day.

Each regional power company in its region draws up schedules of planned hourly outages.

They should ensure consumption of the region at the level of the proven limit.

"Exceeding the limits leads to risks of creating emergency situations in the power system. That's why emergency shutdowns are used to prevent them," Ukrenergo emphasizes.

The company also reported that during the last day, energy infrastructure in the frontline areas in the south and east was damaged due to artillery shelling.

Where the military has given permission, repair work is ongoing. 

We will remind, the head of the government Denys Shmygal said that Ukraine passed half of the winter with dignity, despite the Russian missile strikes on the energy system.
