On January 24, 2023, the hands of the

Doomsday Clock

started moving again.

This year, the Science and Security Council of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists moved the hands of the Doomsday Clock forward, largely (though not exclusively) because of the growing danger of war in Ukraine.

The clock now reads 90 seconds to midnight, the closest to global catastrophe.

The Doomsday Clock is many things at once: it's a metaphor, it's a logo, it's a brand, and it's one of the most recognizable symbols of the last 100 years.

He penetrated not only the media landscape, but also the culture itself.

The Doomsday Clock appears in novels by Stephen King and Piers Anthony, songs by The Who and The Clash, and comic books such as Watchmen and Stormwatch.

The powerful symbol of the Doomsday Clock has influenced culture, politics, and global politics, and has helped shape debates and strategies about nuclear danger, climate change, and revolutionary technology.

We will remind that in 2020, the

hands of the Doomsday Clock stopped at the mark of 100 seconds to midnight due to the threat of a global catastrophe

And in 2019, according to nuclear scientists, "two minutes" remained before the global catastrophe, and the hands of the Doomsday Clock stopped at 11:58 p.m.
