Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel met today with his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in Argentina, in the context of the VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac ).

This is the first meeting between the two heads of state, after Lula da Silva once again assumed the presidency of Brazil, on January 1, the Presidency said on the social network Twitter.

The meeting between @DiazCanelB and @LulaOficial takes place within the framework of the VII #CELAC Summit.

They had previously spoken on the phone several times.

According to the Presidency of Cuba, they previously spoke by telephone on several occasions, the last one after the coup actions carried out by followers of former president Jair Bolsonaro.

On this day, Díaz-Canel celebrated the return of Brazil to Celac and expressed his support and solidarity to Lula in the face of the violent and anti-democratic acts that sought to generate chaos and disrespect the will of the majority of his people.

The day before, the Brazilian President condemned the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation for more than six decades.

The Cuban president held a meeting in Argentina with the president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro de Zelaya.

The Cuban president also held a meeting on Tuesday with the president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro de Zelaya.

Both presidents met in Argentina while participating in the VII Celac Summit, reported the Twitter account of the Cuban Presidency.

During his speech in plenary, Castro had raised his voice condemning the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba for more than six decades by the United States.
