A trip to Mexico turned into a nightmare for several Bulgarian families.

They claim that at the airport in Cancun, as soon as they arrived, their mobile phones and luggage were taken from them.

A family from Burgas says that the men were separated from the women and were locked in groups in the basement of the airport.

To this day, they have no explanation for the detention.

"To get to the bathroom you wade in 3cm of water, your feet are always wet. It's a stone-lined room where it's 10-12 degrees. They brought a hypothermic sheet to wrap my pregnant sister "We didn't have bottled water for 48 hours," says Elena Paraskova.

The dream vacation turned out to be a nightmare for many Bulgarians

“The conditions inside that cell were appalling.

To get to the toilet, you wade through water and your feet are constantly wet in the cold.

We said that my sister Pavlina was pregnant, we asked them to bring us clothes, but they refused.

For her, they brought a foil, which is used in hypothermia, to wrap it with.

24 hours after our detention, my sister and I were allowed to change, but the men were not.

They brought us bags of liquid with water and sugar," she said.

"We had to survive there somehow. We had a good time for the whole 5 days. The whole time they explained that they didn't know English," Galin Efendiev told BNT.
