The process of supplying Ukraine with M1 Abrams tanks from the US may take months, but the training of the Ukrainian military and maintenance crews will soon begin.

This was reported by a representative of the White House, who was quoted on the Internet by the journalist of "Voice of America" Jeff Seldin.

According to senior officials from the administration of the US president, the delivery of Abrams tanks will take months.

However, training of the Ukrainian military on these tanks and maintenance crews will soon begin.

This will take place outside of Ukraine.

"We're going to be able to put in place a very thorough training program and a very thorough program to be able to service and maintain these tanks, which require a significant amount of maintenance," the White House official said.

It will be recalled that on January 25, US President Joe Biden announced that his country would transfer 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.

At the same time, he warned that "it will take time to deliver the tanks."

The US president also noted that in the morning he held talks with NATO allies, in particular with Germany, France and Italy, and declared his unity with them in supporting Ukraine.

Note that the German Leopard 2 tanks, which Germany agreed to provide on the same day, will arrive in Ukraine in about three months.
