20-year-old Olga Pavlenko died in Dnipro with a severe genetic disease -

cystic fibrosis

.

The girl's parents

accused the doctor of negligence and filed a police report

.

This was reported by lawyer Volodymyr Shvachko to the "Informator" publication.

Cystic fibrosis or cystic fibrosis is the

most common genetic disease

.

It affects the lungs, sweat glands and digestive system, causing chronic respiratory and digestive problems.

Previously, due to the high mortality rate, cystic fibrosis was mainly a disease of children.

At present, the high level of diagnosis and treatment

allows significantly extending the lives of patients

"With proper treatment, the average life expectancy of people with cystic fibrosis reaches 40-47 years in Europe and only 13-25 in Ukraine," the lawyer noted.

The charity foundation "Happy Child" helped the girl cope with the disease.

Olga

planned to go to Germany for treatment

, but did not have time.

Her condition worsened and she died.

"Olya really wanted to live. She graduated from school, danced, graduated from medical college, worked, got a driver's license, loved to read, took part in charity events, dreamed and planned for the future," Shvachko said.

Relatives of the deceased claim that

Olga's doctor did not care that this disease required special attention

.

According to them, the doctor

believed that cystic fibrosis can be treated at home, without specialist consultations and

medical supervision.

"We

tried for two years to cope on our own

. Careful people and charitable foundations helped us with medicines. Also, she did not provide the information that the doctors from Germany asked to provide, did not answer calls and messages. Olya repeatedly said that it was impossible to call her and get in for a consultation," said the lawyer.

Currently

, criminal proceedings have been opened

under Part 1 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - improper performance of professional duties by a medical or pharmaceutical worker.

Law enforcement officers are investigating all the circumstances.

We will remind you that for the second time in Ukraine and for the first time without the help of colleagues from abroad, Ukrainian doctors transplanted a patient's lungs.

Thanks to a unique operation that lasted 16 hours, it was possible to save the 56-year-old liquidator of the accident at the Chernobyl NPP.
