Gradually, increasing the number of personnel, the Russian command will move to maximum tension on the front line and consider this the second stage of the battle for Donbas.

Military expert Oleg Zhdanov said this in an interview with TSN.ua.

"In my opinion, Russia will not be able to create a large group. I think that the Donetsk operational direction will remain the main one. Perhaps some group will be formed and strike the Luhansk direction. I think that gradually, increasing the number of personnel, the Russians will move to the maximum tension on the front line. And this will be considered, let's say, the second stage of the battle for Donbas," he said.

Earlier, experts said that a counteroffensive should not be expected in the Donetsk region for another six months.

This direction will continue to be defensive.

Currently, the situation in Donetsk region is the most tense.

There, the fighting continues near the city of Bakhmut, where the Russians and mercenaries from the "Wagner" PMC have thrown all their efforts and are continuously storming Ukrainian positions.

The enemy is also attacking other cities of Donetsk region, in particular, on January 23, the city of Kramatorsk was once again shelled with rockets.
