The Russian army can organize a two-pronged offensive in Donbas, but the occupiers lack the weapons to carry out large-scale tasks.

Military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Svitan

told about this in an exclusive interview with

TSN.ua.

"The Russians have a certain number of troops, mainly manpower, now trained to the level of rifle units - not even motorized rifle units, because there is no equipment. These are rifle companies with certain weapons, at most - up to a mortar group, which enter Ukraine.

At least in the last month, about 100,000 have entered, another 100,000 are going to Russia and will enter next month until the end of February,

" he said.

At the same time, according to Svitan, the occupiers can perform the tasks of the local plan only.

"They cannot carry out large-scale tasks due to the lack of equipment. They can press further, using geographical advantages in height.

They can press on the Donetsk front, try to throw our troops from the Donetsk ridge, and will try to go from Valuyek towards Kupyansk to Svatovo — to the left flank of our troops advancing on Luhansk

. Based on the forces and means available in Russia, they will not be able to carry out any task of an offensive nature," said the reserve colonel.

We will remind, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces

Valery Zaluzhnyi

warned that the Russian Federation is preparing for a new attack on Ukraine.

According to him, for this purpose, Putin is gathering a group of up to 200,000 troops, which he can launch into the offensive in January-February or in the spring.

Kyiv may be under threat.

Russian Defense Minister

Serhiy Shoigu

confirmed preparations for new offensive actions in Ukraine.

As Shoigu explained, it was for this that the Russian Federation carried out a partial mobilization.

Military expert

Oleksandr Musienko

predicted possible directions of the Russian attack.

"They can concentrate their forces somewhere in the Kursk, Bryansk, or Belgorod regions, from there try to enter Luhansk region and Kharkiv region, try to take Luhansk region, Donetsk region in full, and from the Zaporizhzhia direction, as an auxiliary, go on raids to prevent us from advancing. Just keep Belarus as factor of constant psychological pressure and threat. The goal is to keep the territory, if lucky - to advance further," the expert said.

Military expert

Dmytro Snegiriov

emphasizes that the Russian army considers the Donetsk region as a priority for a new major offensive.

The expert noted that primarily mobilized Russians will take part in the offensive.
