In Russia, according to the calculations of Ukrainian intelligence, only 20% of the pre-war stocks of high-precision missiles remain.

This is approximately 550 units.

But the occupiers still have a sufficient number of less accurate missiles, such as S-300, S-400.

And our border regions, in fact, remain under threat.

Serhii Kuzan, a military expert and head of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation, told about this in an interview with TSN.ua.

"In terms of high-precision missiles, we can see that the number of uses has already decreased. That is, these missiles - both Kh-101, Kh-555, and Kalibri - still feel that it is more difficult for the Russian military-industrial complex to restore these stocks. We are simply depleting them . But there is no need to entertain illusions: by the end of winter, they will have something to hit us, on our territories. That is, they still have old Soviet stocks, for example, we all saw that X-22 and the house in the Dnipro. That is, there is more they have the same old missiles in storage," he said.

Kuzan noted that Russia's military industry currently works in three shifts, and they still continue to manufacture high-precision missiles.

"But we have already talked about their depletion: recently it was 30%, now it is 20%. That is, their missile stock is gradually being depleted," he added.

"However, if we talk about much less accurate missiles, strictly speaking, these are anti-aircraft missiles, these are missiles intended for air defense, I mean the S-300, S-400, then they still have a really sufficient number of these missiles. And our border regions, in fact, remain under threat," he said.

That is why, according to the expert, we really need an anti-missile weapon with a sufficiently long range - in order to destroy not only the missile itself, but also the launcher.

Because, as Kuzan explained, the Russians are converting these anti-aircraft systems from surface-to-air to surface-to-surface.

And, actually speaking, they increase their range.

"Recently we saw strikes on Kyiv, this is exactly the S-400 missile, it is designed to hit air targets, but after conversion it was used for ground targets. The accuracy is lost, but the destructive power does not go away from this. And the distance, of course, is large - 250-270 kilometers. That means we will still feel their threat. And so we especially need to get all these Patriot air and missile defenses and additional NASAMS batteries and so on as soon as possible. And of course we a long-range missile is needed to hit their launchers," the military expert summed up.

It will be recalled that US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Policy Affairs Colin Kahl said that the Pentagon does not yet plan to transfer missiles with a range of 300 km to Ukraine.

At the same time, military and political analyst Oleksandr Kovalenko does not rule out that the USA could secretly transfer missiles with a range of 160 kilometers to Ukraine in the extreme package of military aid, in particular the ATACMS.
