A 59-year-old man in Silistra brutally killed a dog and eight puppies.

The drama unfolded on Sunday, and a post on social networks about how the man dragged the dog with a scooter shocked the residents of the Danube city.

After a long search, conservationists found their bodies under the bridge that goes to the monastery where the four-legged animals lived.

The man was detained for 24 hours, and tomorrow in the Dorostol Diocese they will try to determine the guilt of the priest in the monastery in connection with the case.

"The reason is that the dog, the mother, ate an egg from the hens of the monastery.

Let's hope that there will be some kind of justice, this time for real," said environmentalist Daniela Naydenova, BTV reported.

"A pre-trial proceeding has been established, which is being monitored by the regional prosecutor's office - Silistra, and the involvement of another person in the specific case is being investigated.

With the data we have so far, perhaps in the capacity of instigator or helper, this will be established in the course of the investigation", announced Teodor Zhelev, spokesperson of the District Prosecutor's Office-Silistra.

We are waiting for the prosecutor's office to pronounce, and then we may give some opinion, and tomorrow we are convening the diocesan council to call Father Terapontius, to try to reach the truth in our own ways," said His Eminence Metropolitan Yakov of Dorostol.
