On January 23, the court refused to remove the mayor of

Poltava

Oleksandr Mamai, who is suspected of divulging information about the placement of units of the Armed Forces.

Mamai himself told "Suspilno" about this.

It is known that representatives of the prosecutor's office insisted on removing Mamai.

This petition was considered by the judge of the Kyiv Poltava District Court on January 23.

The meeting lasted more than two hours.

However, the judge still decided not to remove the head of Poltava, Oleksandr Mamai.

The prosecutor's office announced that it will appeal against this court decision

.

They have 5 days to prepare an appeal.

In addition, on January 20, the same court, during the consideration of the petition for the selection of a preventive measure for the mayor of Oleksandr Mamai, decided to release him on personal recognizance.

The meeting was held in closed session.

The prosecutor's office asked to take him into custody.

What is known about the case of Mamai

The SBU handed the suspect to the mayor of Poltava on December 29, 2022.

Law enforcement officers suspect Mamai of disclosing information on the movement of weapons and military supplies, the movement or placement of Ukrainian military units.

According to the SBU, the mayor of Poltava shared data that was not made publicly available by the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, or other authorized state bodies.

Oleksandr Mamai himself stated that the information he shared was public.

He does not see his fault.

The mayor of Poltava believes that in this way they are trying to remove him from his position and called the suspicion "politically motivated".

Before that, the Kyiv Poltava District Court began to consider Mamai's case, the investigating judges

several times announced their recusal.
