Low-quality pork from Western Europe floods the market in our country.

This is what Bulgarian producers warn, writes Nova TV.

Due to a shortage of Bulgarian pork, almost all the sausages in the shop windows were imported, and the quality of the raw material was lower than that of Bulgarian.

At the same time, the prices of meat products on the stand are going up.

Bulgarian pork accounts for only 30-40% of consumption in our country, which is mainly used for fresh consumption.

Raw materials from Spain, France, Denmark, Germany and Belgium are mainly used in the processing, in the production of sausages.

However, according to pig farmers in our country, the quality of imported meat is lower.

At the same time, both pig farmers and processors report dramatically higher costs – both in meat and sausage production.

New research pinpoints the risks of red meat consumption

"Active Consumers" conducted a survey of 25 sausage brands to find out exactly what the current salamis contain and how they differ from the authentic recipe.

According to Dr. Sergey Ivanov from "Active Users", the analysis showed that the current salamis are very far from the original recipe.

"Modern analogues are very far from the original. According to our ranking, only one had sugar, in the vast majority there are starch and plant additives such as fiber. They are mentioned on the label. You would hardly want to consume this thing. In order not to put meat in, such alternative ingredients are put in," he stated.

According to him, there may be pressure from the state to comply with BDS.

"We want greater quality and safety of food, BABAH should exercise stronger control and analysis for conformity between content and label. It relies on the conscience of producers to describe the content. A very big influence can be exerted by large retail chains. I call on people to read the labels," Ivanov pointed out.
