Mumbai:

Vagir, the fifth submarine of the Kalvari class, is going to join the Indian Navy today.

Four Kalvari class submarines have already been inducted into the Indian Navy.

Navy Chief Admiral R Harikumar will induct submarine Vagir into the Navy fleet at a ceremony.

The submarine Vagir built with the help of Messrs Naval Group of France has been built at Mazagon Dock in Mumbai.

This indigenously made submarine with modern technology is a sign of the growing step towards self-reliance in the defense sector.

Equipped with deadly weapons and espionage technology, Vagir can stay under water for 50 days and can go up to a depth of 50 feet.

With its joining the Navy's fleet, the Navy's firepower will increase further.

It is so dangerous that it can spoil the enemy's game inside the water.

That's why it is named 'Vagir'.

Vagir is a Persian word which means dangerous hunter.
